Stranger Things 4 Rift

Netflix

To usher in the highly-anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things, Netflix knew they needed to go big.

They came to us to devise a traffic-stopping stunt that would ignite fan love around the world, and prove that all roads lead to the Upside Down.

In the world of Stranger Things 4, portals to the Upside Down begin opening throughout Hawkins as the otherworldly invades our world. We set out to create IRL rifts to bring the Upside Down into the real world and offer a glimpse at the thrills to come in ST4.

Our reality-bending activations popped up around the globe in 14 markets from London to Prague to Malaysia, seeded through cryptic coordinates posted as part of an hype-driving social campaign.

The Empire Building acted as the anchor stunt, transforming the entire Southern Face of New York’s most iconic skyscraper into a portal to the Upside Down, accompanied by a themed viewing experience at NYC’s Flatiron Plaza South.

The Global Rifts were responsible for over over 190 million organic impressions and hundreds of pieces of press coverage, with over 110,000 global viewers attending the stunts in person and thousands more following along through digital livestreams and run of show social coverage.

The Rifts won the 2022 Innovation Grand Clio and took home the gold  in the Out of Home category, as well as winning the 2023 Webby Awards and Webby People’s Voice Awards in two categories: Best Event Activation and Experience Marketing.
